Tourist Attractions: Reina Sofia National Art Museum
it was designed as a complementary building to the architecture of the Prado Museum. The Reina Sofia was officially inaugurated by Queen Sofia in 1992. Originally built to become a hospital, the museum expanded under the direction of French architect Jean Nouvel. The museum houses several masterpieces belonging to Spanish painters and here we can also find some works signed by Picasso and Dali. El Guernica, Picasso's famous masterpiece that embodies the Spanish Civil War, alone is worth the price of admission. Which costs 8 euros.
Mercado de San Miguel
is a very popular shopping complex in Madrid, basically a gorgeous market where you can find everything from basic food to delicacies. The structure made of steel scaffolding and glass windows hides a complex where diners will discover the finest ingredients and dishes, from dried or salted fish to pasta cooked with the most diverse sauces or to spectacular and delicious cakes. Due to the fact that the market is open until 2 in the morning, it has become a tourist attraction for visitors who come to sample fine drinks and selected appetizers. The venue even hosts concerts, cooking classes and private parties.
Temple of Debod
is the most popular attraction in the Oeste Park area, located near the Royal Palace of Madrid. This temple dedicated to the goddess Isis once stood on the course of the Nile, then, along with several other monuments, it was moved to prevent its flooding. The Egyptian government decided in 1968 that the temple should be given to Spain. Debod is about 400 years old and is decorated with bas-reliefs depicting Ammon and Isis.
