The food
Italian cuisine is known for its aromatic, simple and, at the same time, extremely delicious dishes. Once you have arrived here, you must not leave without trying the local dishes. Supli is a snack that you will find on almost every street corner or takeaway restaurant. Supli is prepared from fried rice, mixed with ragu and mozzarella. You can find it in Travestere, at the local I Supplì. Pizza al taglio is another delicious dish that you can find in Rome. Pizza is cooked in large trays, with various toppings, from the classic ones with tomato sauce, mozzarella and basil to meat, cheese and vegetables. You can try them all at Pizzarium, but you will certainly find many other places with pizza. Among the pasta dishes, we recommend you try rigatoni carbonara, bucatini amatriciana or cacio e pepe, a perfect option for vegetarians. Saltimbocca alla Romana is prepared from veal, prosciutto crudo, fresh sage, marinated in white wine. Simple and juicy, you should not miss this dish when you are in Rome, which you can find at Da Teo restaurant, in Travestere. And for dessert you can try tiramisu, gelato, profiterole or cannoli. The price for the famous Italian gelato can vary between 2 and 3.50 euros and you can serve it in a cone or a glass.
Drink
If you arrive in Rome, you must try some of the local drinks and, why not, go out in the evening and get a taste of the locals' nightlife. If you go out to a restaurant in the evening, you can try a red wine, and, on average, the price of a liter of red wine is between 5 and 8 euros. You can also try limocello, prosecco or bellini, a pink drink with prosecco, peach juice and a little cherry juice. One of the rituals of the locals is to drink a coffee, so if you want to integrate as well as possible, then you can simply order a coffee (the term espresso is rarely used) and enjoy it directly at the bar. Also, you should never order a cappuccino right after lunch. Another traditional drink is the aperitivo, which is consumed early in the evening (between 18:00 and 21:00) and includes a drink and food from the buffet. You can go to places like Doppiozeroo in Ostiense or Momart, on Via Nomentana. The price can vary between 6 and 10 euros. The price of a 0.33 l bottle of water is, on average, 0.99 euros, a draft beer (0.5 l) costs 5 euros, and a cappuccino costs 1.27 euros.
